2/16/2010     Keep Body Fat Melting Off

Keep Body Fat Melting Off

It’s that time of year, get-togethers, family gatherings, banquet style meals where everybody insists you must try their dish. It’s no wonder that the fall is when many people begin packing on the pounds. Not too long ago putting on a few pounds in the fall was a good thing. The extra fat helped keep us warm in the cold winter months to come.

Now, thanks to central heating and improved home efficiency, we don’t need the extra weight to keep us warm.

Unfortunately, our social habits haven’t changed. Every fall many of our waistlines take a hit. It’s harder to take these pounds off than it is to prevent the fall weight gain. Here are some time tested methods for preventing weight gain.

1-With all the goodies being passed out, it’s hard to turn them down, especially when hunger strikes. Keep your tummy satisfied by keeping a bottle of water, fresh fruit, and healthy snacks ready on hand. Keeping hydrated and with satisfying healthy snacks at the ready, you may avoid overeating treats.

2-Eat at least three healthy, balanced meals and one snack per day. Curb hunger pains with a diet rich in lean meats, good carbs, and plenty of fruits and vegetables to keep you full and powered up.

3-Resist trying everything on the buffet line. Serve up your first plate with raw fruits and vegetables and a lean meat. This will fill you up with healthy calories which won’t find their way to your waistline. Then, if you are still hungry, go back for two or three small servings of your favorite calorie laden dishes.

4-If you are planning on attending a function later on in the day, eat a fiber rich snack before hand to fill yourself up. This way you will be less tempted to indulge in high calorie foods upon arrival.

5-If you slip up, counter that extra food with a little extra activity. The next day take an extra walk or spend a few more minutes on your exercise routine.

6-If you aren’t exercising now, it’s a good time to start. Rather than waiting for the new year to work on the extra weight, start working out now before the weight is gained.

7-Studies suggest that it’s not the act of eating more during the holidays which does the most damage to our waistlines, rather, it’s the fact that we continue to eat more calories after the holidays are over, instead of resuming pre-holiday caloric intakes.

Taking the time to plan now can save needing a wardrobe change this spring. Rather than making a resolution and trying to get healthy after the season passes, start the season with good habits that you can continue after the parties are over. Start getting healthy by incorporating good habits today.

2/16/2010     Is This the Supplement Of the Century?

Is This the Supplement Of the Century?

Concord grape powder contains several key components which may provide astounding health benefits. In addition to resveratrol, it also contains antioxidant and phytochemcials currently being studied by researchers. However, it’s the resveratrol which has researchers excited.

In animal studies, it has exhibited anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, and blood sugar lowering ability. Additionally, other cardiovascular effects have been reported. Other experiments have shown that it has extended the life of worms and fruit flies. In studies involving fish, their lifespan increased by 56%.

Another study involved mice on a high fat diet which derived over 60% of the caloric energy from fat. Their diet also included 30% more calories than regular mouse diets. Both the mice on the standard diets and the ones with the higher fat diets showed a 30% decrease in risk factors of death over the two control groups. Further, the insulin and glucose levels in the mice with the high fat with resveratrol diet were similar to the mice on the regular diet without resveratrol. However, the levels of free fatty acids were still higher in the high-fat and resveratrol diet.

Other studies revealed that the addition of resveratrol to the diets of elderly mice showed a range of healthy benefits, but did not extend the lives of the mice when started later in life.

Regarding skin cancers, concord grape powder and resveratrol are currently being undertaken with human applicants. They are particularly interested in its effects on breast, gastric, esophageal, prostate, pancreatic, colon, and skin cancer. Preliminary research has revealed that resveratrol has limited bioavailability. In particular, it seems to only work when directly applied to tumors, rather than by ingestion.

However, they also noted than most of the absorption of resveratrol is done in the mouth. They are, therefore, uncertain of its ability to be effective as a supplement in pill form. They have concluded that it is most effective as a liquid form swished in the mouth or a minute or two, or applied directly to the skin on skin tumors.

They say that in topical applications, when applied both before and after UV exposure, it inhibited skin damage and decreased skin cancer incidence. Additionally, when given orally it halted, reduced, and sometimes reversed cancers of the esophagus, stomach, and intestines. Other oral administrations produced significant normalization in blood glucose levels and plasma insulin. It also alters the way carbohydrates are metabolized in the liver and kidneys of diabetic rats.

In the coming years we may hear more about the health benefits of concord grape extract and resveratrol. While it is not a cure all, it is showing promising possibilities in regard to improving health and vitality. Many are adding this supplement to their diets and experiencing significant health benefits.

2/16/2010     Bye Bye Cellulite With These Tips

Bye Bye Cellulite With These Tips

It doesn’t matter the season, fighting cellulite is an ongoing project. Just as we look after other aspects of our health and beauty, such as exercising, eating healthy, brushing our teeth, so too fighting cellulite should be a daily habit.

There are a few tiny rules to know about smoothing cellulite:
~ Drink plenty of fluids, especially water
~ Exercise is essential for getting toned
~ Everybody has cellulite, even super models
~ The main idea is to plump up the skin and increase circulation
~ That you put onto your body is as important to what you put into it

Here’s what to do:

1-Before you take your morning shower, exfoliate the affected areas with products that have grit or sea salt in them. These products increase circulation while sloughing off older skin. Over time this leaves the skin smoother and improves the blood flow to the area when repeated regularly.

2-Get an anti-cellulite device to use in the shower. These are hand held and have rubber spikes or knobs on them which also stimulate circulation to the area.

3-Get Caffeinated. Use a lotion which contains natural plant sources of caffeine on a daily basis. Some people swear by ground coffee scrubs and compresses. Caffeine works in external applications by drawing fluids to the area, plumping it up and reducing the appearance of cellulite. Also, try lotions which promise to help tighten the skin, even if the effect is temporary.

4-Reduce intake of sugar, caffeine, alcohol, and dairy products. These can cause increases in certain hormones which will make the appearance of the condition worse.

5-Reduce stress, stress can aggravate the condition and cause spikes in cortisol levels which promote fat gain. A high stress lifestyle can also induce production of catecholamines which has been associated with cellulite.

6-Continue losing weight and try to maintain a steady healthy weight. Rapid changes in weight can loosen the skins bonds, which may worsen the appearance of cellulite. Cellulite is a natural skin condition most prevalent in women. Everybody on earth suffers from it. Treatments can only lessen the appearance of the condition.

What is it? Between the dermis (skin) and the muscle is a layer of fat. This fat is essential for maintaining body temperature, when weight is at a normal level. However, the fat deposits are not distributed evenly. It is less apparent when the skin is tight, but if the skin becomes loose, such as after significant weight loss. There is no way to cure it. However, improving the hydration of the area, improving circulation to the area, and improving skin tautness and tone, can have a dramatic affect on its appearance.

Other measures include keeping the body adequately hydrated. Get plenty of exercise, which improves circulation. Eating plenty of fresh fruits, vegetables, and adequate proteins, which can help keep hormone levels even. Also, maintaining a healthy weight and avoiding fast weight losses repeatedly, as this can loosing the bonds between the skin and the underlying tissues.

2/16/2010     This is Essential for Children’s Health

This is Essential for Children’s Health

Ear infections, respiratory infections, and antibiotic induced diarrhea in children can be reversed and possibly even avoided researchers are saying. Several studies have come to light in recent years which have concluded one thing; the efficacy of probiotics as a supplement in the child’s diet.

Researchers used a combination of Bifidobacterium rhamnosus, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, and Lactobacillus plantarum for the prevention of antibiotic-associated diarrhea in children. They were surprised to find that the incidence of otitus media (ear infections) and respiratory infections were also reduced. In the studies, standard antibiotic treatments plus a probiotic supplement and probiotic supporting diet were used in combination.

While many in the antibiotic group did incur diarrhea, the amounts per day was drastically reduced and dehydration was minimal. Also, no adverse reactions were reported.

Researchers have concluded that, in comparison to other double blind research panels, that long term supplementation can reduce bacterial infections and incidence of infections and diarrhea in children not taking antibiotics. They conclude that overall incidence of infection and illness was much lower in those taking the probiotic supplement compared to the control group.

However, they caution that those with adverse immunological dysfunction and diseases should seek the advice of their doctor before supplementing.

Replacing the bacterial probiotics into your child’s diet can help them absorb more nutrition due to the action of the bacteria in their colon. Certain strains of beneficial bacteria in the human colon produce vitamins and chemicals which cannot be obtained directly from the diet in beneficial amounts. Bacteria is also thought to be the body’s first line of defense against internal bacterial invasion, to kill off possible bacterial and viral pathogens by altering the pH of the intestines to make it unfavorable to bad bacteria and viral infections.

Doctors are now recommending that daily supplementation be given to children to help them better fight infections and for a healthier digestive system. Rather than taking pills, probiotic straws and delicious beverages have been designed to help administer the probiotics safely and deliciously so kids will actually enjoy taking it.

2/16/2010     Improve Muscle Tone 5 Easy Tips

Improve Muscle Tone 5 Easy Tips

Exercise accomplishes two major things with our bodies, aside from the obvious health benefits. First, it builds muscle which burns fat and calories faster. Second, it looks better under our skin, improving the appearance of our bodies and helping us be more agile and youthful. We don't need to look like a muscle bound body builder to benefit from or look great as a result of proper exercise. Here are five easy muscle building tips:

1-Don't be afraid to lift weights at least a couple of times per week. Purchase inexpensive dumb-bell kits (around $30 at retail stores) or weight bands. Follow the included exercise plan and go slowly. Trying too much at once can lead to failure.

2-While weights are good for the arms, to be able to lift those without strain or injury, the core muscles must be exercised too. The core muscles are those around the waist, particularly the abdominals and lower back. Build these up with a daily exercise regimen especially designed for core strength. Try Pilates and back exercises.

3-Don't forget to work out those hips, thighs, and calves. The muscles of the thighs are the largest muscles in the body and also burn the most calories. Increasing the workload of these muscles can help you lose weight faster, and toned legs help the body look more in shape.

4-Eat sensibly. To get more out of your body, feed it well with plenty of high quality protein, fruits, and vegetables. Take a food based vitamin supplement to fill in the gaps caused by dieting.

5-Get rest. While exercise is great, the body actually builds the muscles during rest and sleep. Exercise traumatizes the muscle and breaks it down. This in turn causes the body to react by producing more growth hormones and repairing the muscles to better cope with the work load caused by increased activity.

These five easy tips are the building blocks of a good exercise program. You have to break the body down with the good stress caused by healthy exercise, and build it back up with good nutrition and adequate rest.

2/16/2010     This Fiber Does a Body Good

This Fiber Does a Body Good

Fructooligosaccharides (FOS) are also sometimes called oligofructose or oligofructan. These are usually used as an alternative sweetener because they have up to 50% of the sweetness of sugar, without the effects of sugar. They emerged in low calorie foods during the 1980’s during the demand for healthier foods.

Because of their unique molecular structure, they resist being broken down in the mouth and stomach by digestive juices. In the colon they are digested by certain bacteria and act more like a fiber than a sugar. This gives them a negative caloric value.

Studies suggest that ingestion of FOS and inulin (another dietary fiber) can increase calcium absorption. It also can provide long term energy to the body due to the chemical breakdown by the probiotics in the colon.

Due to its probiotic support, it is sometimes used to treat yeast infections. However, only 5 to 10 grams per day are recommended as more than that can cause mild flatulence.

Using FOS in your diet can help sweeten some foods or beverages without adding extra calories, it can also provide benefits by supporting probiotic activity in the colon and thus aid in improving digestion and internal intestinal health

2/16/2010     Healthy Hair Nutrition

Healthy Hair Nutrition

In centuries past many people thought healthy hair and nails could be obtained by eating gelatin. And so the gelatin craze was born. Certainly, getting more protein in the diet can help strengthen hair growth, and gelatin is actually a protein. However, healthy hair comes from a balanced diet.

First, avoid junk food. This can exacerbate skin conditions, especially of the scalp. It also can promote overproduction of the hormones responsible for oil production of the skin and scalp. Sugar, caffeine, fried foods, processed foods, are healthy hair no no's.

Second, be sure to eat a diet with plenty of leafy green vegetables and plenty of fresh fruits. The minerals and vitamins in these can help the follicles (which is where hair is produced) be healthy and promote good skin and intestinal health.

Third, get your protein. Hair and nails are made of keratin, an amino acid. The body uses proteins from meats and legumes to manufacture this, so give it what it needs daily.

Fourth, lose weight. Studies suggest that maintaining a healthy weight will help the body be better able to grow healthy hair. Also, many who have lost weight report thicker, healthier hair as the pounds rolled off.

Fifth, get your daily vitamins, especially folic acid. Poor hair health is often a result of vitamin deficiencies. Opt for a food-based vitamin supplement.

Sixth, if your hair is falling out, becomes thinner, dry or brittle, consider having your thyroid checked. Hair condition is a good indicator of health, thyroid, endocrine, digestive, reproductive, and pancreatic problems often result in symptoms such as hair loss, thinning hair, brittle hair, or oily hair. If you notice drastic changes in your hair or believe your hair is thinner, brittle, or more oily than it should be, ask your doctor to rule these out.

Seventh, don't skip meals. Repeated dieting can show up in hair and nails. Yo-yo dieting especially can wreak havoc on otherwise normally healthy hair. Both the hair and nails will become brittle and growth may be come slow or uneven. If you need to cut calories, cut a small amount, or better yet, increase activities to burn more calories.

These seven simple tips will help you have shiny, healthy, manageable hair. Part of feeling self-confidant is having healthy hair. Boost your hair’s health by boosting your body's health every day.

2/16/2010     What You Need To Know About This Seed

What You Need To Know About This Seed

Grape seed extract contains chemicals known as phenols and oligomeric proanthocyanidins. These are recognized antioxidants. By limiting lipid oxidation, the process which turns good cholesterol into the artery clogging bad cholesterol, the phenolic may be a powerful new tool in the fight against heart disease.

Another polyphenol, known as resveratrol, has been shown to interfere with cancer cell growth and proliferation. It may also cause apoptosis and other chemo-protective effects.

Grape Seed Extract Benefits:
-May inhibit virus expression and replication in HIV patients. -Proanthocyanidins accelerate wound healing.
-Inhibit the growth of sugar loving bacteria, thus preventing cavities. -Enhance bone density, thus thwarting osteoporosis.
-Prevent ultraviolet radiation damage to skin, thus becoming an internal sunscreen.
-Current studies are underway for breast cancer, estrogen levels, and coronary artery disease.

Oral administration is considered the most effective method of delivery since the extract is absorbed quickly in the mouth and stomach. Results in humans has been seen in administrations from just 50mcg to 1000 mg per day with no adverse side effects. Though administration of higher doses has been shown to induce itchy scalps, nausea, and increase blood clotting time. Therefore, lower doses are better and more easily tolerated by a wide range of individuals.

2/16/2010     Get Healthy Hair with Proper Care

Get Healthy Hair with Proper Care

Shampoo, conditioner, leave-in conditioner, detangler, styling mousse, volumizer, hair spray, hair gel, curling serum, straightening serum, and we have not even gotten to all the products for permed and color treated hair. Hair care products are a big industry, and they fill shelves at the grocery and retail stores.

Are they really necessary? Many of the products contain chemicals which are harsh to the hair and dangerous for the scalp. Too many products in the hair can also weigh it down, making it look lifeless, dull and limp. Many shampoos on the market do more than cleanse the hair, they strip it, sometimes destroying it, resulting in split ends and dry hair.

Step One: Wash the hair with a mild cleanser. Do not use bar soap, body wash, or household cleaning items. Use a mild shampoo specially made for your hair type. It should be free of sodium laurel sulfate (SLS). Health food stores often carry inexpensive brands of gentle shampoos without harsh chemicals.

Step Two: Use the matching conditioner. Condition your hair at least once per week. Every other day if you wash your hair daily. This reduces the buildup of conditioning waxes. Use a minimal amount of conditioner and rinse the hair with cool water to reduce the amount of essential oils stripped from the hair.

Step Three: Consider rinsing the hair with a mild apple cider vinegar solution at least once per month. This removes the buildup of styling products in the hair without stripping or drying the hair. It will also aid in maintaining shiny, silky, manageable hair.

Step Four: Avoid styling products as much as possible. We all want to look great for work, shopping, and other activities. Consider finding ways to style the hair which use the least amount of styling products. Hairspray can make hair brittle, other styling products can damage hair.

Step Five: Avoid damaging the hair with heated styling products. Blow dryers, flat irons, curling irons, and hot rollers can burn hair. Use them only when absolutely necessary. Avoid using them daily.

Step Six: Keep hair trimmed professionally. Find a stylist you like and stick with them. The more you work with one stylist, the more they come to know your unique hair type. Keep the ends of your hair trimmed to keep it looking clean and healthy.

Step Seven: Have your hair professionally colored or permed. Products found on super market shelves can easily burn or strip hair. While there are one-type-fits-all, not all hair takes 20 minutes to color and may burn or become brittle if left on that long. A stylist can check the hair during application to ensure damage doesn’t occur.

Step Eight: Keep your hands out of your hair and avoid brushing or combing too often. Your hands have natural oils on them, plus germs and grim from daily activities. This can make the hair dirty faster, prompting repeat washing. Also, brushing or combing the hair too often can break it and distribute natural oils from the scalp faster.

Step Nine: Avoid chlorine and chlorinated swimming pools, especially if your hair is permed or color treated as the chlorine can react with the metals in the hair dye, turning the hair green tinted. Chlorinated municipal water and chlorinated swimming pools can also destroy otherwise normally healthy hair. Wear a swim cap, or avoid the pool.

Healthy hair also takes a good diet and a healthy body. Healthy hair is seen as a symbol of a healthy body, and a person’s social and economic status. Keep your hair healthy with good hair care and by keeping your body healthy. Our next article will cover hair health from the inside.

2/16/2010     The King of Herbs

The King of Herbs

Cayenne pepper is unequaled in its ability to boost circulation. It dilates blood vessels, improves blood quality and flow, and cleanses the blood of microbes and infections. It also breaks up cholesterol deposits. It has long been used for its ability to enhance the cardiovascular system. It even seems to energize the body, helping it to overcome fatigue. It does not have the dangerous side effects of prescription medications such as heart palpitations, hyper-activity or raised blood pressure.

It stimulates organ secretions and stimulates digestion. It will facilitate rapid distribution of the active nutrients found in other herbs throughout the body. It is an excellent cellular and hormonal metabolism booster. Its abilities to stimulate neural-hormonal activity and cellular data transition is incredible. One look into many of the websites about cayenne reveals that it has been used with miraculous success in treating heart conditions and even preventing many of the complications associated with heart attack and stroke victims.

Dr. Richard Anderson suggests improving its effectiveness by combining it with hawthorn supplements, known throughout Europe for its unique abilities to improve the cardiovascular system and circulation. Dr. Anderson believes that a regular regimen of hawthorn and cayenne supplements will greatly reduce , even prevent heart attacks. And those who do experience such will suffer less damage.

"In 35 years of practice, and working with people and teaching, I have never, on house calls, lost one heart attack patient and the reason is, whenever I go in--if they are still breathing--I pour down them a cup of cayenne tea (a teaspoon of cayenne in a cup of hot water, and within minutes they are up and around),” Dr. Christopher says.

It is recommended, in addition to taking the supplements daily, to carry some along for emergencies. Since cayenne works so quickly, some doctors are recommending that people use it in emergency situations for heart attacks, strokes, and injuries with severe bleeding. It works so quickly that after just one dose, bleeding has been noted to slow significantly or even stop within seconds

Truly, entire books have been written on the effectiveness and abilities of cayenne pepper for health. Due to its ability to overstimulate nerve signals, it acts as a more effective pain killer, both topically and internally, than NSAIDs. It has been a recommended treatment for cluster headaches, muscle aches, chills, fevers, inflammation, muscle injuries and more. It doesn't cause ulcers as once believed, but can actually kill the ulcer causing bacteria H. Pylori. Cayenne is truly a wonder herb.

2/16/2010     Beautiful Skin Starts on the Inside

Beautiful Skin Starts on the Inside

Healthy, glowing skin is the result of more than a spa treatment or a nice body lotion.

Healthy, blemish free skin is the result of a good diet, water, exercise, and key nutrients. Here are 10 tips for healthy skin from the inside out:

1- Water daily. Healthy clear skin results from a healthy and hydrated body. Drink at least 2 to 3 liters of water daily. If you also drink caffeinated or sugar laden beverages, strive to cut back, and counter each one with an additional glass of water to help the body flush it out.

2- Exercise is good for more than just muscle tone. During exercise the blood vessels dilate at the skin, this flushes out the skin, cleaning it and refreshing it. It also stimulates growth and repair. Exercise results in healthier, more youthful looking skin.

3- Avoid sugar and caffeine. These both stimulate the endocrine system and raise the levels of hormones responsible for breakouts and skin problems. Plus they dehydrate the body, leaving the skin looking dull.

4- Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables. They contain fiber and vitamins essential for a healthy body and intestines. The healthier we are on the inside, the healthier our skin will be. Plus, they help the body remove toxins and waste matter, leaving it better able to facilitate growth and repair of tissues.

5- Get your Probiotics. Probiotics are good for more than just a healthy gut. They play a key role in the production of essential nutrients, amino acids, and vitamins which are vital for healthy skin. Plus, they help balance the immune system and strengthen it, aiding the body in resisting bacterial infections on the skin.

6- Whole grains and legumes are rich in amino acids and vitamins from the B group. Amino acids and B-vitamins play vital roles in many metabolic processes, a deficiency in B-vitamins can result in a break down of skin tissue. This can lead to infections, blisters, boils, more acne lesions, and scaring. Healthy skin is dependant on a healthy supply of B-vitamins and amino acids.

7- Vitamin-E and essential fatty acids are also important. The body needs them to facilitate tissue repair and maintain the supple skin layers. Vitamin-E used both topically and taken as a supplement can help prevent premature aging of the skin and speed up healing. It also can help reduce the appearance of scars, stretch marks, and wrinkles. Essential fatty acids play many important roles in skin health.

8- Get adequate sleep. While we sleep, our bodies become more active. While we slumber, our bodies are busy repairing tissue damage, clearing out waste materials, and replenishing itself. Sleep is vital for healthy, clear skin. During sleep the body also produces hormones essential for proper growth and maintenance of the skin.

9- Get your vitamin-C. Avoid ascorbic acid supplements, opt for those rich with bioflavonoids and made with natural ingredients such as rose hips, acerola cherries, and other fruits. Vitamin-C plays any roles in the body including metabolic cycles, blood vessel health, tissue repair, and the immune system. Studies suggest that it also helps regulate certain hormones responsible for skin problems.

10- Avoid junk food. The chemicals and toxins found in overprocessed foods can make the skin looks old and lifeless. The carcinogens found in these foods have been shown to increase cancer and promote aging. The skin is the first place aging shows up.

Healthy skin is vital to a healthy body. In many eastern medical practices, it is believed that the health and condition of the skin is a clear indicator of the health and vitality of the body. It is said that one look at the skin can reveal much about the individual and how well he cares for himself. Look your best by caring for your skin from the inside out.

2/16/2010     An Aloe Leaf a Day Keeps Doctor Away

An Aloe Leaf a Day Keeps Doctor Away

Aloe Vera leaves contain over 275 active compounds such as acetylated mannans, polymannose, anthraquinone C-glycosides, anthrones, anthraquinones, and lectins. It also contains 12 vitamins, 20 minerals, enzymes, 18 amino acids, and other agents which aid its purported healing abilities, anti-bacterial properties, anti-inflammatory properties, and anti-microbial properties.

There is promising research support from laboratory studies with both human and animal studies which suggests that aloe vera has powerful immunomodulary properties which promotes wound healing, and reduces inflammation. In fact, once the compound aloin is removed (during processing of pure gel) it is safe, non-toxic, and has no known side effects.

Topical applications include treating genital herpes, psoriasis, and other skin problems. However, while it does aid in healing sunburn, it cannot prevent a sunburn or burns from radiation. In laboratory studies it has been shown to be effective at inhibiting the growth of fungus and bacteria such as streptococcus, shigella, tinea, and others.

Aloe juice is a healthy beverage and can help speed the healing of wounds caused by internal bacterial infections, ulcers, and even may help speed healing on wounds from surgery. Externally, as a gel of juice, it is effective at cooling and healing burns, including sun burns, and can help tighten and tone the skin. Many men and women have used it to promote a youthful appearance, and with good reason, its high levels of vitamin-C are skin healthy!

2/16/2010     Get Red Carpet Skin, In Just Minutes Per Day

Get Red Carpet Skin, In Just Minutes Per Day

In addition to our diet, there are many external ways to improve the tone, texture, and clarity of our skin. While getting adequate sleep, water, fruits, vegetables, protein, and other essentials does go a long way to improving skin, there's a lot more than just soap and water that goes into camera ready skin. These 8 tips will help you achieve the look without the price tag and will take just moments per day.

1- Shower daily. At least once per day get a good scrub down. It is recommended to wash the entire body every night, to remove dirt, germs, and skin cells and oil which has accumulated during the day, leaving skin refreshed and better able to repair itself while we slumber.

2- Do not use anti-bacterial soap. While the media has bombarded us with visions of dangerous germs which can only be killed with antibacterial soap, using it daily is like taking antibiotics, it can lead to more infections from anti-bacterial resistant germs. Plus, the harsh chemicals can lead to overly dry skin, aggravate skin conditions, prompt extra oil production, and can lead to toxic build-up over time. Instead, opt for a gentle, plant based cleanser or glycerin soap. Warm soapy water works just as effectively to remove dirt and germs as does anti-bacterial soap.

3- Use a loofa or other scrubbing cloth to soften and smooth skin. Over time the mild abrasive action can help lessen the appearance of scars, blemishes, calluses, and help prevent some skin conditions. Plus the sloughing off of dead skin uncovers fresher skin which looks younger and more supple.

4- Lotion up after. Find a mild, plant based lotion to rehydrate skin. The extra moisture will help skin maintain elasticity and youthfulness. Use a body lotion which is plant oil based and which does not contain petroleum products which can block pores and prevent the skin from breathing properly.

5- Wash the face twice per day, every night and every morning. The skin on the face is exposed to the elements more and tends to collect dust and dirt as well as produce more oily sebum. Be proactive against facial blemishes. Use a mild facial cleanser made specifically for the face, body washes are too harsh for the delicate skin if used on the face.

6- Use a facial moisturizer twice per day, after each time you wash. Be sure to use one made specifically for day or night and made for the delicate skin of the face. Facial moisturizers contain less (if any) oil compared to body lotions. They are also lighter and won't clog pores.

7- Protect skin from the sun. While 30 minutes of sunlight per day is essential for optimum vitamin-D protection, avoid catching rays between 10 am and 4 pm, when the concentration of dangerous UVA and UVB rays are at their peak. Opt for a hat and eye shades over pore clogging sun block, especially for the face. Use SPF protectant make up, mineral powders, and creams made for the face when sun exposure is unavoidable.

8- Be sure to spend time on those hands and feet. They are the first to show signs of aging. The skin is thinnest there and more prone to sun damage, drying, and attack from germs. So wash the hands often, and be sure to scrub and lotion up those hands and feet at least once per day.

It only takes minutes per day to maintain beautiful skin. Start today and over time, with repeated efforts, your skin can be softer, more supple, and more youthful looking. Care for your skin daily and enable it to care for you. Our next article will detail internal measures we can take for beautiful skin.

Whittle Your Waist Naturally

Sweeten With Stevia

Derived from the leaves of a relative of the sunflower native to South America, it has been used as a sweetening agent in that region for at least a few centuries, and has been used in Japan, as a sugar substitute, for over 30 years.

It has a licorice-like after taste in its raw form, but purified, it is a white powder with little or no after taste. It has up to 300 times the sweetness of sugar. Since it does not raise insulin, glucose, or have an effect on blood sugar levels, it shows promise as a treatment for diabetes and obesity. It has no known side effects, and unlike other chemical sweeteners, has not been shown to produce cancer or other harm in laboratory studies.

On the contrary, it has been shown to improve glucose tolerance possibly by inducing insulin production and insulin sensitivity. In some countries, it is being used to treat conditions such as heartburn, obesity, high-blood-pressure, hypertension, and possibly for osteoporosis (due to stimulating increased production of serum calcium).

Xylitol

This is naturally present in minute amounts in many fruits and vegetables. In fact, the body produces its own during certain metabolic processes. Although, it is classified as a carbohydrate, it is slowly absorbed in the digestive tract. Thus, it does not cause a rapid increase in blood glucose or insulin. It also does not cause cavities, unlike sugar, the bacteria in the mouth cannot utilize it and die. It is considered a safe and natural alternative for a sweet tooth. Dentists and nutritionists recommend its use!

Reducing sugar intake can significantly reduce daily caloric intake. By making it a habit to consume less sugar daily, over time we can reduce more body fat. As part of a healthy diet and lifestyle, these two sweeteners can help you enjoy your favorite foods without packaging on the pounds.

2/16/2010     Coffee’s Nearest Relative, The Delectable Noni

Coffee’s Nearest Relative, The Delectable Noni

Noni, a compound fruit, is a delicious white berry. It’s naturally incredibly high in vitamin-C and is surging with over 70 other vitamins and minerals. It has been used all over Polynesia for more than 2,000 years for a wide range of medical and nutritional applications. Once considered the poor man’s food, they are usually eaten by those with little means to prevent ill health and disease.

Noni grows in poor, sandy soil in tropical and subtropical regions. Noni does contain low levels of toxic anthraquinones, which are toxic to liver tissue and can cause hepatitis. However, in reasonable amounts, they are noted as harmless. The toxicity has only been discovered with a few cases where the consumers had eaten abnormally large amounts of the fruit over several days. Authorities in France, Finland, Ireland, and Germany have concluded that it is impossible to get toxic amounts of this chemical in supplement form. Toxicology reports were unable to duplicate the reports from Polynesia.

On the other hand, a university based study funded by the Tahitian Based Manufacturer showed that Noni juice may contribute to lowered cholesterol. In other laboratory studies, Noni juice seems to reduce blood vessel size and reverse its growth in breast cancer subjects.

Another study showed that Noni juice inhibited cancer cell formation in the laboratory with test subjects who had been exposed to known carcinogens, when compared to the control group. These findings have been confirmed by peer reviews. Additionally, they believe that Noni juice may increase endurance and stamina. Preliminary evidence suggests that athletes showed increased endurance, possibly due to increased antioxidant activity.

Noni Juice is delicious. It has a mildly sweet and sour, yet mellow fruit taste, and packs a nutritional punch. In developing countries it is commonly eaten to prevent scurvy and other vitamin-C and vitamin deficiency diseases.

2/16/2010     Build a Body you can be Proud Of In Just 20 minutes or Less Per Day!

Build a Body you can be Proud Of In Just 20 minutes or Less Per Day!

If you truly want to be in the best shape of your life, and stay that way, it takes long term commitments to health and a routine of activities YOU can look forward to. Just as we have different tastes in foods, music, clothing, work, and entertainment, so to not all physical activities work for everyone.

Here are ten simple steps for building a fabulous body:

1- Think long term, not quick fix. Rather than jumping into a set of activities and long duration routines, start with small steps and build your way up. Jumping into intense workouts doesn’t work, it just sets us for feeling like failures. Instead, pick something small and build on that.

2- Forget getting all the workout done in one sitting, how many of us have time for that? Four to eight short bursts of 5 to 10 minutes each can provide long term and lasting benefits. Start with two 5-minute sessions and add to that. A little something is better than nothing.

3- Do something upon rising. Even if it’s 2 minutes of jumping jacks or a few rounds up and down the stairs. Getting your metabolism up within the first 45 minutes of rising can keep it raised all day.

4- Use it as a mid-morning/afternoon pick-me-up. Instead of reaching for that donut, cup of coffee, or candy bar, take a hike. Plan two five minute breaks per day. Take a walk around, go into the break room and use bands or light weights. Do something different and get your blood, and brain activated.

5- Forget videos and equipment. Nature handed us the best equipment we can get, our own body. Learn isometric exercises. The most beneficial exercise takes light clothing, comfortable shoes, and your mind. If you do plan on investing, try inexpensive items such as stepper machines, bands, balls, and floor mats.

6- Find a buddy. If you’re at work, find a co-worker who can share in your twice daily trips around the complex. If you've got a significant other, invite them to take a brisk walk before or after meal times. Grab your pals and (leaving credit cards at home) hit the mall for a chit chat while walking.

7- Find refreshment in going solo. Got a hectic schedule, a bustling house full of people, need to get away? The easiest mini vacation may be a solo walk around your block. (in safe neighborhoods), those few quiet moments before the family gets out of bed, or in the evening as everybody moves onto TV and homework. Get out, get away, go for a 5-minute walk.

8- Check out our blog for tips on surging and burst training. Just 12 minutes per day and you could look like a super model in a year. Surge and burst training differ from walking, jogging, cycling. While those do burn some calories, if ill conditioned for the activity, they can raise cortisol levels, defeating the purpose. Surge and burst training effectively lowers cortisol levels and encourages the body to level off leptin and insulin levels naturally.

9- Pick a sport or hobby, any sport or hobby. Find something YOU enjoy doing which tricks your mind into thinking "hey, this is super fun" instead of "oh, so were going exercising again."

10- Of course, other methods work too, take the stairs instead of the elevator, park farther out and force yourself to walk farther to the grocery store door. Many little new and light activities, small changes done during the day, can help burn fat and calories and not even feel like exercise. After a few days, it may feel second nature to do things differently.

2/16/2010     The "Queen Of Fruits"

The "Queen Of Fruits"

Nicknamed "Queen of Fruits" and "Food of the Gods," the delicious mangosteen has been a traditional drink, food, and medicine of Asian countries for countless centuries. Not related to a similarly named fruit, the mango, the mangosteen is thought to have cooling properties and its ripening season coincides with a "heating" fruit known as the Durian or

"King of Fruits."

It is used most notably in Singapore, Malaysia, and southeast Asia, and is not only native to those areas, but only grows in a two mile wide sector longitudinally. It is especially temperature and latitude sensitive and has not been successfully grown outside the area and produced fruit.

Legend has it that Queen Victoria offered a reward to anyone who could bring her the fabled fruit. It was noted that, in order to appreciate the wonderful qualities of the fruit, one must eat it in its native region.

It is an evergreen tree with a purple fruit with white flesh. It is described as having a fragrant edible flesh with notes ranging from tangy, to sweet, citrusy and peachy in texture and flavor.

Health Benefits

Mangosteen rinds contain xanthones. In small amounts researchers note that they are biologically active and similar to flavoids. This means that they are antioxidants and seek out free radicals and free radical damage. While large repeated doses of this extract have health precautions, in minute supplemental amounts they have been found to be extremely beneficial to health.

Highly acidic, they are best taken with alkaline and alkaline forming foods and supplements such as leafy greens, algae's, and other fruits and vegetables. (Such as found in Delicious Greens 8000, a balanced drink supplement).

2/16/2010     The Lazy Mans Way to Diet

The Lazy Mans Way to Diet

We love to hate them, the forever skinny people. Those whose metabolisms seem to be permanently stuck on high. And we cringe at the thought of becoming overweight. Many of us who are overweight try one fad after another, erroneously blaming our genes.

The secret to permanent fat loss and a normal and healthy metabolism results from hard work, effort, and long term lifetime changes.

Here are ten tips the skinnies won’t tell you:

1- Food is not a substitute for anything else. Food is simply an enjoyable method of providing the body with the necessary nutrients for health. Many of us were given candy and treats as kids to soothe our pains and show affection. Learn new methods for affection. Soothe pain with good friends, fun activities, hobbies, and even hard work.

2- Eat when hungry, stop when full, respect portion sizes. The stomach naturally can hold one to two cups of food or liquid. If we are accustomed to more than this, it may be hard at first, so chew your food slowly and learn to cope the first week or two. Tune into your body's signals for hunger and satiety. Feeling full means feeling satisfied physically, not feeling stuffed.

3- Eat regularly, never skip a meal. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and at least 2 small snacks. Keep the fires stoked with regular small meals instead of big ones. This will reduce the sugar highs and lows which induce weight gain and mess up leptin levels.

4- Eat wholesome foods, look for foods which have been minimally processed and contain high amounts of vitamins and nutrients naturally compared to their caloric value. Fast food, processed foods, and packaged foods are normally nutrient low and calorie dense.

5- Sugar and carbohydrates are more responsible for fat and weight gain that fat. Choose low-glycemic foods which cost the body almost as much energy to process as they contain. The body uses up fat first, and converts sugar to fat for energy. Fat is a jet fuel compared to sugar. Remember this the next time you are tempted to reach for a fat-free or restricted calories packaged food.

6- Repeat the mantra: negative calorie foods are my friends. Most fruits and vegetables are considered negative calorie foods when they are raw. This means they cost the body energy to process. Many cost the body more energy to process than they contain, while others provide loads of nutrients for very few calories. This doesn’t mean you have to eat salad, carrot sticks, and celery like a rabbit. Find fruits and vegetables you enjoy eating plain, raw or lightly steamed. Each shopping trip pick up one or two fruits and vegetables you have never tasted before. Keep a record of your likes and dislikes, you may be very surprised.

7- Avoid dressings, foods with corn syrup, canned foods, and anything which contains bleached, deodorized, or mechanically separated foods in it. These can cause sugar spikes, and wreck havoc with insulin and leptin levels, the key hormones which affect long term metabolism and cortisol levels.

8- Destress. Stress, either outside or inside stress triggers can raise cortisol levels. Cortisol induces the body to store fat, no matter how much you diet and exercise, anything which induces cortisol levels to raise, raises fat accumulation and reduces metabolism.

9- Eat medium chain fatty acids and essential fatty acids. Avoid vegetable oils and fried foods. Essential fatty acids and MC's stoke up the fires. In healthy amounts they induce the body to burn, baby burn. Try starting the day with coconut oil or an omega fatty acid supplement fatty acid supplement. This can increase the metabolism right away in the morning and keep it burning high for hours.

10- Exercise everyday. If you aren’t into running, the gym, cycling, or sports, that’s okay. Find a physical activity YOU like to do and do it for at least 20 minutes every day. What’s important is that it raises your heart rate and makes you at least sweat a little. For healthy exercise ideas, check out our Blog. Search for surging and burst training for work-outs in just 12 minutes per day which work faster than jogging or running.

Maintaining a healthy weight is all about keeping a steady pace. Keep in mind the rabbit and the tortoise. You can be the rabbit with yoyo dieting, or the turtle with the slow and steady pace. The steady pace, wins the race.

Learn methods of safely increasing the metabolism. Stay away from diet drugs and caffeine, which only work to raise cortisol levels and raise and lower insulin levels. Find supplements which safely and healthily provide metabolism and energy boosts.

2/16/2010     Get Amazing Energy Just by Knowing When to Eat

Get Amazing Energy Just by Knowing When to Eat

We get 5 chances per day to make the right food choices. Based on daily metabolic cycles researchers suggest eating no less than every three hours while awake. This levels off to 3 meals and two snacks or five mini meals per day. However, what we eat and when we eat it has more to do with how we feel than how often we eat.

Part One: Meal and Snack Ratios:

1- Every meal and snack we should strive to have at least one source of complex carbohydrate, one source of high quality protein, one fruit, one vegetable, and some fat. Yes, you heard right, you should have fat AND protein with every meal and snack.

2- There is a good reason for this, fat is both instant and long lasting energy. As far as energy value goes, fat is like jet fuel for the body, not all fat is equal. Reach for salmon oil, olive oil, coconut oil, nut oils, omega fatty acids, and those found naturally occurring in foods like avocado, nuts, cheeses (whole fat cheese is better than fat free), and meats with skin and fat on. Researchers recommend dividing 30 to 40 grams of fat from dietary sources up over all five meal selections per day.

3- Protein is a must. Protein should be eaten in small amounts at every sitting. Protein is an energy source. More importantly, it is necessary for nearly every function in the body, including metabolism and brain function. Usually 30 grams is enough, but if you are active, trying to lose weight, sick or stressed, a little more (40 to 50 grams) is better.

4- The motto used to be 5 per day for health. Now researchers recommend at least 6 to 10 servings of fruits and vegetables per day for their healthy benefits. Eating more fruits and vegetables can lead to more stable weight, blood sugar, and cholesterol levels. Don't think you need to fill up your plate with salads, ½ to 1 cup is a serving of fruit or vegetable. One banana usually counts as two servings, so it can add up.

5- Whole grains. Many people are die hard white bread eaters. However, white starch and sugar is the number one cause of disease an obesity in the world. Strive to get your 4 to 5 servings of carbohydrates from fruits, vegetables, whole grains (not enriched, get the stuff you can see seeds and grains within the bread), and other low-glycemic sources. Watch those portion sizes, a single slice of bread or ½ cup of pasta is a serving.

Part Two: Meal Structures and Portion Sizes

6- Whether you eat 5 mini-meals per day or 3 meals and two snacks, try to maintain caloric, protein, and fat values evenly and about the same for each. This keeps the metabolism stoked and tricks it into NOT storing fat.

7- WATCH THOSE PORTION SIZES. For about the first month, measure everything you need to eat in a day and package it up in containers ready to go. After the first month or two you will have trained your eyes to calculate the right portion sizes. Then just measure your meals every now and again to stay on track. The stomach is only the size of your fist, it can comfortably handle about 1 to 2 cups of food, not more.

8-. Eat right away in the morning. If you are accustomed to working out when you rise right away in the morning, you can delay it up to 45 minutes, but try to eat within 45 minutes of rising. And every 3 hours after that.

9- Never skip a meal, this starts the body into a cycle of slower and slower metabolism, spiraling into weight gain and lethargy. If you travel a lot, or find your self tempted by snack machines and fast food places, learn to carry one meal and one snack with your at all times. Nuts, trail mixes (one portion size at a time), and some energy bars (watch the calories of the portion sizes) are good choices for a just-in-case.

10- Don’t eat 2 to 3 hours before going to bed. If you must, try a bowl of berries (a low-glycemic food) or a small amount of protein. Hot water or herbal tea with a slice of lemon or lime can be equally satisfying. Avoid dairy, grains, and sugar laden foods as these pack on the pounds and send sugar levels spiking when you try to sleep.

For now, try to take these changes in your routing one at a time. When you have it down pat so that it is so much a part of your routine that you don’t even need to think, then move on to the next one. Go ahead, print this out and put it up where you can find it, highlight the one you’re working on, mark the ones you've accomplished, and watch your waistline shrink while your energy and mental abilities increase!

2/16/2010     Papaya, Delicious and Healthy

Papaya, Delicious and Healthy

Originating in southern Mexico and South America, papaya have a long love affair with human cultures. Although it is now cultivated in most tropical countries, it was once the medicinal food considered a gift of the gods.

Papaya has many uses, generally eaten when fresh and soft-ripe, it is also cooked when green and used to make jams and jellies. Green, unripe fruit is the basis for many curries and stews.

Papaya contains papain, an enzyme which is often used as a meat tenderizer. Marinating meat with ripe fruit makes it tender and delicious. Papain, derived from papaya, was used for thousands of years by the indigenous Americans for tenderizing meat, treating bites, bug and sting ray stings, burns, infections, and much more.

The plant and vines of the papaya plant are an excellent source of latex, often used in industrial applications.

Folk remedies of India and South America say that papaya seeds are excellent contraceptives. Women often use them to prevent pregnancy. Research has found that a chemical in the seeds has contraceptive effects in both men and women. Phytochemicals in papaya seeds may suppress the effects of progesterone.

However, the black edible (but peppery and bitter) seeds are often dried and used as a substitute for black pepper corns. The leaves are often cooked and eaten like spinach.

In small amounts, papaya is an excellent hair conditioner. It contains high amounts of carotenoids and can cause harmless yellowing of the skin when eating in large amounts.

Papaya is excellent as part of the daily diet as it rids the digestive tract of dangerous bacteria and parasites and improves digestion. It contains vitamin-C, papain enzymes, carotenoids, and other antioxidants. It is an excellent source of many vitamins and minerals. Doctors and researchers suggest using it as part of a healthy diet.

You can have the convenience of drinking your papaya in a delicious juice like Delicious Greens 8000. Get your papaya along with 40 other fruits and vegetables and over 8000 units of antioxidants per serving. Delicious, satisfying, and dessert like. 2/16/2010     This Fat Turns Up The Heat!

This Fat Turns Up The Heat!

Coconut Oil is at its best when it’s Extra-Virgin coconut oil made from fresh coconut and not dried copra. (copra is dried and fermented coconut halves.) Cold processed, non-refined, chemical free, non-bleached, non-deodorized, non-hydrogenated, non-fermented coconut oil is sweet and delicious. It has a mild coconut-nut flavor which doesn’t over power foods. It is pure white, solid at below room temperature and liquid at body temperature.

The best and most delicious coconut-oil is processed coconuts which are coconuts that have been opened and halved less than 2-hours before the process begins. Unlike nearly all other coconut oils on the market, extra-virgin coconut oil Nutiva Brand, is made by grinding fresh coconut meat which is still soft and delicious.

This ground coconut meat is then immersed in ice cold water. The solids and fiber settle to the bottom and the oil floats to the top. The oil, hard and white, is then warmed to just about melting point and the remaining solids and moisture settles to the bottom. The oil is carefully scooped from the top and sealed in jars, ready for shipping.

Most other coconut oil on the market is made from sun dried or kiln dried copra. The slightly fermented and completely dried meat is then scooped out and sent thousands of miles to a processing mill. Since it is hard and dry, the oil needs to be forced from it using heat and chemical solvents. The oxidized oil is then further refined and usually deodorized to remove the pungent taste. Surprisingly it is then labeled certified organic and virgin.

There is no comparison to true fresh-cold pressed coconut oil which is mild and slightly sweet. The aroma is so light, it needs to further refinement. Industrialized coconut oil is pungent and off-white colored, lumpy, and greasy. True organic fresh cold-pressed extra-virgin coconut oil is pure white and slightly creamy.

Benefits

Delicious extra-virgin coconut oil contains essential fatty acids and medium chain triglycerides. The effects are immediately felt. Within minutes of ingesting this, the body gets warm, energy levels spike and remain high for several hours and metabolism continues to increase the remainder of the day.

Coconut oil is an excellent sunscreen. The fatty acids absorb UVA and UVB rays while letting the skin retain a sun-kissed glow. It is an excellent moisturizer and a wonderful cold-cream substitute as it instantly absorbs into the skin. It is an antioxidant, antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, and pH balancer.

We could go on and on about the benefits of unrefined pure coconut oil, however, all you need is to try it once or twice and you will see what we mean. It’s delicious, wonderful to cook with, easily digestible, and increases thermo-genesis. Researchers even recommend it as a dietary program for reducing high cholesterol, fighting atherosclerosis, and even leveling off sugar and insulin levels. Its effects on the pituitary, endocrine, and thyroid glands is amazing, restoring balance in either extremes.

Taste for yourself and you'll see what the Coconut Oil craze is about!

2/16/2010     Pick Purple Over Green for Better Health

Pick Purple Over Green for Better Health

There are over 400 varieties of cabbage. The most widely used is the green or white varieties. While these are often high in fiber and vitamin-C, for better health, it’s wiser to choose the purple or red varieties.

Cabbage contains significant amounts of glutamine, (an amino acid and anti-inflammatory), and vitamin-C. Purple or red cabbage trumps yellow and green varieties due to higher amounts of red and blue pigmented antioxidants known as anthocyanins. Although basically the same plant, purple and red cabbage thrive in acid soil, which increases their color and antioxidant value. Green and yellow cabbage grows in alkaline (lime) soil which causes it to have its characteristic coloring.

Currently, cabbage is a source of the drug indole-3-carbinol (I3C) which is used in part for the treatment of papillomatosis, or an infection of the humans papillomavirus which attacks the head, face, neck, throat, and respiratory system. This condition can lead to death without proper care.

In folk remedies, cabbage was often used to treat inflammation both internally and externally. Both fresh-raw and boiled leaves were carefully wrapped around the affected areas. It is claimed to relieve painfully engorged breast in breastfeeding women.

Additional reports suggest it is efficient at treating and promoting the rapid healing of peptic ulcers when used as a raw juice. Others claim this juice is an excellent diet and health tonic and often use it in or as a cleansing agent. Since cabbage is considered a negative calorie food (it burns more calories to digest it that it contains) it is considered essential to a regular diet and is an excellent diet aid.

Cabbage is naturally high in fiber and vitamin-C as well as organic sulfur compounds. It has been popular as a mainstay of the human diet for hundreds of years. Red and purple cabbage contain high amounts of antioxidants.

Is it no wonder that Greens World has included it in their Delicious Greens 8000 product? Carefully blended, the cabbage juice should not even be detectible. However, it is just one of the many ingredients that make this product incredible and delicious. FEEL THE GREENS DAILY!

2/16/2010     Tip the Glass for Good Health & Energy

Tip the Glass for Good Health & Energy

Delicious Greens 8000, in five scrumptious flavors, contains whole foods and food extracts. Unlike nearly all vitamin supplements on the market, which contain vitamins developed in a lab, or cultured in a petri dish, Greens 8000 contains more vitamins and minerals than the best vitamin pills and liquids on the market.

How can it contain more vitamins and minerals? The vitamin and minerals sources found in fresh, raw fruits and vegetables and desalinated pure sea water are in an easily digested form. Plus they contain the phytonutrients and enzymes inherent in their food sources which are the key to enabling the body to unlock and utilize them.

In comparison, laboratory designed and factory developed vitamin supplements, even those extracted from plants originally, are void of the vital chemical substances found in plants which enable the body to unlock them. This means that, researchers say, less than 10% of nearly all vitamin supplements on the market are absorbed by the body.

This is why doctors and scientists who research this stuff, say to avoid taking vitamins and just eat healthier. They have found that, laboratory developed and manufactured vitamins, even most of those extract from plants and then purified, become difficult for the body to break down.

In fact, they say, taking vitamin pills and liquids can actually cause vitamin and mineral deficiencies. Why? The body must use its reserves of precious enzymes, bacteria, and key nutrients to even begin to unlock the hard vitamin particles.

This means that the body uses up vitamins to get vitamins. While it may be able to get some nutritional value from the supplement, in the long run, it’s causing more problems.

Whole Food Nutrition

The best method of receiving essential nutrition is to obtain it from whole food sources. There are a few extracts, minimally processed, which are more beneficial than obtaining it from whole food sources. With some foods it would just take eating too much of the food before beneficial amounts are extracted.

This is why Greens World designed Delicious Greens 8000 products. They contain over 50 different fruits and vegetables. Carefully processed to minimize nutrient loss. They also use only the top fruits and vegetables on earth. The ones the government and research labs call SUPER-FOODS.

To this unique and secret fruit and vegetable blend they add ionic trace minerals carefully extracted from inland sea water and enzymes extracted from carefully selected fruits. Even doctor recommended probiotics for better health and digestion are added. The protein lecithin, which is vital for proper brain, nerve, and metabolic function, is in the blend. And herbal extracts designed to increase the digestibility, hypoallergenic nature for the blend.

They then developed 5 deliciously unique flavors. They started with mint and then added delicious berry. This past year they realized they needed something decadent tasting, so they carefully developed a chocolate. In addition to their original "green" line, they added a kid’s blend. With less of the stuff that makes it green and more of the stuff that makes kids beg for it.

Delicious Greens 8000 is unlike ANY other greens product on the market. Most greens product you can still taste the "greens" portion. Many find it difficult to take, especially when they aren’t used to healthy foods.

However, Delicious Greens are so good, kids even ask for them, mistaking them for juice drinks and treats. And you can feel great drinking it and giving it to your family knowing that it contains only 49 tiny calories per serving and only 3 grams of sugar.

2/16/2010     The Amazing Radish

The Amazing Radish

Closely related to mustard, the radish is surprisingly healthy. Generally, its used as a salad topping or plate garnish in the United States. However, in other countries (depending on variety) it is also a condiment, main dish, and even a medicine.

Its flavor ranges from mellow and sweet, to peppery and mild, and even sweet and hot, similar to mustard. In Japan, a species of radish known as the daikon is used in numerous dishes, as a medicine, and grated as a horseradish.

The common radish, or garden radish has a red skin and crisp white flesh. The younger the tubers, the more mild and sweet the flavor. Kids often love young radishes for their juicy sweet crunch. They also bring out the flavors of other foods and are often used in dishes to enhance other ingredients.

Radish Goodness

Radishes are rich sources of vitamin-C, and minerals such as iodine, sulfur, and iron. They also contain potassium, magnesium, folate, calcium, riboflavin, and vitamin-B6. One cup of sliced radish contains just 20 calories. This makes them very filling and nutritious compared to their caloric value.

Ordinary radishes are a great source of vitamin C and are rich in minerals like sulfur, iron, and iodine. Daikon is even better, a source of vitamin C, potassium, magnesium, and folate as well as sulfur, iron, and iodine.

Research suggests that radishes can provide benefits and may even be used as part of the treatment for whooping cough, cancer, digestion, liver diseases, regularity, increasing bile flow (gall bladder), arthritis, kidney stones and problems, and intestinal parasites.

Fresh, raw radishes can help clear the sinuses and soothe sore throats. The vitamin-C is an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant. Radishes have shown to provide some relief for asthma and allergy sufferers. The potassium lowers the risk of kidney stones and heart problems. Clinical research suggests that a diet rich in fruits and vegetables significantly reduces the risk of many diseases, boost the immune system, and help regulate weight.

If the spicy-sweet flavor of radish is not your thing, you can get your daily dose of this vegetable and over 40 other fruits and vegetables, carefully blended for optimum flavor and digestibility. Now you can enjoy the wholesome goodness of radishes without even detecting their flavor. Buy Delicious Greens 8000 today and FEEL THE GREENS

2/16/2010     This Spice Has History

This Spice Has History

It apparently originated in Africa and was then brought to Asia and India where it quickly became a household favorite. Unlike most other spices which come from leaves, flowers, or seeds, cinnamon is the bark of a tree.

It is widely used in treats, sweets, baked goods, curries, chai, spicy teas, pickling, liquors, and even for cooking meats and roasts. It has gained popularity around the world for its sweet, spicy and woodsy aroma and decadently sharp flavor.

Few people realize it, but cinnamon is actually a strong medical herb. It once had a reputation for curing colds, treating diarrhea, and curing digestive disorders. (possibly why it became a seasonal favorite).

Researchers have uncovered astounding secrets. It has been found to contains chemicals which they believe will treat type 2 insulin resistant diabetes. It also contains antimicrobial properties and is excellent for preserving foods naturally.

Other studies include using it to treat tooth aches, for postmenopausal symptoms, fighting bad breath, aiding digestion, and reducing incidence of the common cold. It is even used effectively as an insect repellant, particularly against mosquitoes and killing their larvae.

Further research indicates that it is excellent for treating oxidative stress related illnesses in humans since it is rich in antioxidants. Although it is used in traditional medicines as a preservative, antifungal, aromatic, analgesic (pain fighter), cold remedy, appetite stimulant, to treat internal bleeding, for diabetes, to fight the common cold, and even for lung infections, we believe it is a delicious flavor enhancer. Delicious Greens 8000 contains barely detectible amounts of cinnamon to improve the flavor and digestibility of the greens.

Fight Fatigue…..Build Immunity

Relieve stress, fight fatigue, reduce illnesses with American Energy. Similar to Quinn's Blend, Hawthorne Heart, and Circulation One products, this promotes circulation and increases thermogenisis.

American Ginseng

Research studies show that American ginseng, when taken orally, is metabolized by intestinal bacteria. It is then available in the blood about 7 hours later. It provides many of the same benefits as Siberian Ginseng found below.

Siberian Ginseng

Ginseng is an adaptogen, fights cholesterol, is classified as an anti-inflammatory (arthritis watch out!), and an immune tonic. It is useful to the hypothalamus and pituitary glands. It is commonly used to treat symptoms of HPA depletion which include fatigue, stress, neurasthenia, sore muscles, dark eye circles, contracting/dilating pupils, and other conditions associated with the hypo functioning of the adrenal systems. Users and researchers claim these benefits: increased endurance, memory improvement, anti-inflammatory, immunogenic, chemo-protective, radiological protection, cortisol decreaser, immune enhancer, angina, headache, and poor appetite. Current research indicates that it has an anti-depressive effect in laboratory studies.

Gotu Kola

2/16/2010     Healthy Like an Egyptian

Healthy Like an Egyptian

Its origins and beginnings are unknown. Yet, evidence of its cultivation as far back as the 2nd millennium BC have been noted in Egypt and Mesopotamia. Although ancient Egyptian text does not specifically mention it, numerous seeds were found in the tomb of Pharaoh Tutankhamen.

By the 11th century A.D, it was present in China, and by the 13th century, it had been introduced to Europe. It first made its way into the English dictionary in 1615. The Vietnamese maintain that they cultivated watermelons long before China discovered them.

Legend has it that Prince Mai discovered it when a passing bird dropped it on the island he was imprisoned on. The Chinese discovered it in 110 B.C when they invaded Vietnam. It found its way to North America by the early 1500's and was widely in production worldwide by the early 1600s.

Fresh watermelon is a delicious summer treat enjoyed by millions each year. It is used in a variety of foods, juices, and desserts. Even the rind is pickled or fried in many cultures as a vegetable.

Nutritional Pallete

Watermelon is 92% water by weight, 6% sugar compounds, and 1% fiber, beta-carotene, and vitamin-C. The amino acid Citruline has been extracted from watermelon rind. The rind has also been found to contain a concentration of B-vitamins.

Citruline is known to assist blood vessels in contracting and relaxing. It has much the same effect as the drug Viagra and is thought to increase libido.

The flesh, which is usually red or gold, is a rich source of phytonutrients, beta-carotene, and vitamin-C. In addition to its sugar, it contains chemicals which make it taste sweet. The flesh contains very little Citruline, hardly enough to mention.

Watermelon extract can make any drink delicious and naturally nutritious. Get your daily dose of vitamin-C in your daily glass of Delicious Greens 8000 products. The kid’s version uses watermelon to enhance the delicious flavors of the other fruits and vegetables it contains. Feel the Greens!

Vitamin-B12

A water soluble vitamin, it plays a key role in brain and nerve function. It is also essential for blood formation and is involved in the healthy metabolism of every cell in the body. It is essential for fatty acid synthesis and energy production. Vitamin-B12, however, cannot be synthesized within the human body or by gut friendly flora.

It MUST be obtained through diet and can only be obtained from eating foods with certain strains of bacteria. These key bacteria are the only organisms on earth which contain the enzyme necessary for producing B12. This is why, especially vegetarians and those who eat processed and fast food, must supplement their diets.

Historically, vitamin-B12 was supplemented by yeasts and yeast products such as brewers and nutritional yeast supplements. It is now extracted from cultured bacterial strains from different sources. Methylcobalamin, Dibencozide

Thiamine (Vitamin-B1)

Is water soluble and MUST be obtained from bacteria in the diet. Deficiency signs include Beriberi (a nervous/cardiovascular system disease), malaise, weight loss, irritability, confusion, and fatigue. It is essential in a wide variety of cellular and biological roles. It is essential for the conversion of sugar into energy.

Riboflavin (Vitamin B-2)

Like all other B-vitamins, B2 is water soluble and easily obtained from a balanced diet. It plays a key role in energy metabolism and is essential for the metabolism of fats, ketone bodies, carbohydrates, and proteins. It must be obtained from supplements or fresh foods such as milk, cheese, liver, beans, yeast, mushrooms, leafy greens, and almonds. It is destroyed by exposure to light, over processing, irradiation, and standard ultraviolet sanitizing methods.

Vitamin B-3 (as Niacinamide)

This form of niacin does not produce flushing and a deficiency is usually expressed as acne, skin legions, and inflammatory skin conditions. It is a known anti-inflammatory and provides key anti-anxiety properties. It is currently being researched for its use as an anti-anxiety supplement. It has been shown to increase endurance, prevent immuno-suppression caused by UVA and UVB radiation (sunlight), and is essential in many metabolic roles.

Vitamin B-6 (from Pyridoxine HCl)

B6 assists in balancing sodium and potassium. Among its other roles, it promotes red blood cell production. It is also linked to cardiovascular health since it is a known homocysteine blocker. It has been linked to the treatment of learning difficulties in children and is key in treating persons with dandruff, eczema, and psoriasis. It is known to balance the hormones (especially in women), and aid the immune system. Deficiency symptoms include anemia, nerve damage, seizures, skin problems, most sores. It is required for the production of serotonin, dopamine, norepinephrine, epinephrine, noradrenaline, and adrenaline. It is being implicated in the treatment of depression and anxiety.

Folate (as Folic Acid)

Vitamin-B9 (folic acid) is essential in many body processes. It is important for rapid cell growth and division. It is required for healthy blood cell production and to prevent anemia. Both children and adults require plant and animal sources of folic acid for true health.

Vitamin B-5

B5 is essential for life. It is critical for the metabolism and synthesis of fats, carbohydrates, and proteins. Therefore, it is essential for energy production. Small amounts are found in nearly every food on the planet. Sufficient dietary amounts must be obtained through supplementation or directly from high concentrated food sources such as whole grains, cereals, legumes, eggs, meat, and royal jelly.

Chromium is an essential metal is required in minute amounts for proper sugar to energy synthesis and lipid metabolism. It is east to become deficient as it is only found in minute amounts naturally in food. To boost energy, a supplement must be taken.

Creatinine is secreted in minute amounts form the break down of muscle tissue. Recently it was discovered that supplementation can increase muscle mass and athletic performance. 2/15/2010     Forget The Pie Shell, Tom Thumb Had the Right Idea

Forget The Pie Shell, Tom Thumb Had the Right Idea

These juicy fruits pack more nutrients that previously thought, in addition to dietary fiber, they contain high amounts of antioxidants classified as phenols. They have been under research repeatedly for the unique phytonutrients they contain called neochlorogenic and chlorogenic acid.

Antioxidant Action

The phenols contained in plums target specific and particularly destructive oxygen radicals called superoxide anion radicals. And research has proved that they prevent oxygen damage to fats, those in particular which make up our brain cells (neurons), cell membranes throughout the body, and those in the blood stream.

Oxidized fat in the blood stream is what changes good, energy providing fats into artery clogging plagues. A Vitamin Kick Researchers believe that the plums ability to increase iron absorption maybe due to the unique form of vitamin-C it contains. Plums are touted as one of the best sources of vitamin-C. Vitamin-C is also an antioxidant and a necessary mineral and acid in the body. It is needed in order to repair tissue and have a strong functioning immune system. The blood vessels elasticity is due in part to the strength vitamin-C provides the cells. Plums also contain carotenoids, antioxidants from the vitamin-A family and a host of other body strengthening vitamins such as: calcium, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, vitamin-B2, potassium, and citric acid (a fee radical scavenging type of vitamin-C). Studies suggest that eating (or drinking pure juice) of fruits such as plums can lower the risk of diseases such as macular degeneration, heart disease, high cholesterol, diabetes, hypertension, and even the aging process. However, they warn, canned or cooked fruits often have high amounts of sugar in them and due to sitting around on store shelves, most of the vitamins have begun to degrade. They recommend eating and drinking only fresh, raw fruits and juices whenever possible.

Getting your nutrition and the 5+ servings of fresh fruits and vegetables is easy, with just one glass of Delicious Greens 8000 and you have the nutritional and antioxidant power of over 40 fruits and vegetables. It’s so good, even Kids will ask for it!

2/15/2010     This is a Quick way to Lasting Energy

This is a Quick way to Lasting Energy

When you are worn out, lacking energy, and feeling frazzled, that is when you need CellEnergy™. Our cells have a natural tendency to cleanse themselves and eliminate metabolic waste. They also are like batteries, when given the right materials they produce energy.

As the day wears on, stress takes over and the body’s cells become tired and overworked. Toxins and cellular waste begin to build up. As they build up, a snowball effect sets in. This results in the cells using up more and more minerals and vitamins resulting in more and more fatigue and toxic build up.

In order to tip the scales back and reduce the fatigue, these essential vitamins, Ionic Trace Minerals™, Fulvic Acid, and Plant Derived Enzymes must be restored to the body. These essential compounds assist the cells in increasing cellular energy and promote reoxygenation. This enables the strength from the body's basic core to be ignited.

Basic Components for Cellular Health

Vitamin-C: this is a basic vitamin which can be either a mineral or an acid in the body, is necessary for the citric acid cycle, and for a multitude of chemical reactions in the body. It acts as an electrical conductor, antioxidant, and supports the immune system. It is the very fabric of cellular walls and assist the blood vessels in being elastic.

Vitamin-E: This is both a vitamin and a water soluble fat. It is necessary for cellular health, protects cells from external damage and from begin invaded by damaging particles. It is essential for the myelin sheath around nerve bundles, and acts as an antioxidant. There are many different types of vitamin-E and each one provides a specific set of reactions and tasks.

Pantothenic Acid: also Called Vitamin-B5, is required to sustain life. It is required to produce the essential coenzyme-A. It is essential for the body to be able to derive energy from the fats, proteins, and carbohydrates. It is found in minute quantities in nearly every natural food source, with high amounts in whole foods and unadulterated grains, eggs, legumes, meats, and royal jelly.

Calcium: This is essential for all living organisms. In addition to hardening the bones and providing the raw materials for the cellular walls of the bones, it is used as a signaling mechanism for many cellular processes. It is the most abundant metal in animals.

Potassium: this occurs as a safe ionic salt. It is found in sea water and is necessary for all living cells. It regulates nerve impulses, and cellular metabolism. Ionic Potassium is necessary for all living cells and is found in the highest concentration in sea water, plant cells, and especially fruits. It is molecularly similar to sodium, however, it performs different roles and counter balances sodium.

Chloride: This chemical is needed in the body for proper metabolism. It assists the processes needed in turning food into energy. It protects the delicate acid balance of the body and increases the bloods ability to remove carbon dioxide from the body.

Sulfate: present in all cells and an organic compound found throughout the body. It forms compounds with sodium, magnesium, potassium, and selenium. It plays different roles in many organs and body systems. Most amino acids have sulfur as a component, there is not enough time here to go into detail about the importance of sulfur.

Sodium: In small amounts salt is an essential nutrient. Originally viewed as the supporter of life, salt is essential for energy production and metabolic processes. It builds up a charge on the surface of cells and assists in allowing essential nutrients in and out of the cells.

Lithium: Naturally occurring Lithium in minute amounts is essential to the metabolic cycle and can induce the cells to produce more energy. When naturally occurring in sea water, (salt removed) it is ionically charged and safe for human consumption.

Fulvic Acid: Is a carbohydrate which is produced as the direct result of the break down of ancient plant matter. It is present in healthy soil and contains an immense array of natural phytochemicals, biochemicals, antioxidants, amino-acids, and energy producing nutrients. It is thought to enhance trace element bioavailability, stimulate and enhance immune function, improve the bioavailability of nutrients, increase blood oxygenation, increase enzyme action, increase the metabolism of proteins into amino acids, balance hormones, decrease heavy metals and detoxify the blood and cells, and acts as a powerful electrolyte. It seems to regenerate the essential nutrients in the cells and prolongs their usefulness. It also enhances the ability of the cell membranes to transmute nutrients.

Why is CellEnergy™ Important?

The minerals, vitamins, and ionic metals found in sea water combines with the fulvic acid and base ingredients provide the necessary elements commonly lacking in processed food and quickly used up in the body due to stress and fatigue. Reintroduction of these necessary nutrients into the body assists the body in properly reoxygenizing the cells and blood, reduces lactic acid build up, reduces oxidized wastes and free radicals, and reduces acidity caused by food, insufficient oxygenation, and cellular metabolism.

These essential nutrients are, according to researchers, thought to enhance physical and mental performance. Restoring and maximizing oxygen saturation in the cells and blood is healthful in restoring balance and energy to the body. At first, as waste and acid is expelled from the body, flu-like symptoms may be experienced. This is followed by a period of relaxation and energy and feeling of restfulness and clarity.

Taking CellEnergy™ daily provides essential nutrient support for the bioelectrical system and metabolic cycles in the body. It enables the body to experience a deeper connection between the mind, body and spirit and allows one to feel an inner tranquility and peace. The refreshment felt by those who do take this supplement regularly is deeper and more restful than a good night’s sleep. And provides the essential energy to cope with life’s daily activities.
