You see, clinical studies have shown that a variety of natural cholesterol healing products may benefit cholesterol health. Among these natural, homeopathic treatments for high cholesterol are folate (vitamin B9, or “folic acid” in its synthetic form), vitamin B3 and vitamin E.
You may also want to consider using fish oil or flax oil to lower cholesterol. Cardiovascular and cholesterol health benefits have been shown to be provided by two nutrients, docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), which are essential fatty acids (EFA) known as omega-3. Cholesterol reduction and lower triglyceride levels have been shown to be linked to these nutrients.
And for an additional source for EFAs, they are highly concentrated in flax seeds. This nutrient may effectively benefit cholesterol through its EFA concentration, as well as by its content of plant-based compounds known as lignans. And, flax seeds are an effective source of soluble (dissolves in water) fiber, which may lower cholesterol levels, as well. In one study, the subjects – all young women with normal cholesterol levels – were given 50 g (about 1–3/4 oz.) of raw flaxseed each day for a month (either as flour or baked into bread). The subjects were found to experience an 18% decrease in LDL cholesterol and a 9% decrease in total cholesterol.
